Bhupinder Singh Mann Recuses Himself From SC-Appointed Committee on Farm Laws

Bhupinder Singh Mann, the President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Mann) and Chairman of the All India Kisan Coordination Committee (AIKCC) recused himself from the 4-member committee constituted by the Supreme Court to take over negotiations with the farmers and "solve the problem".

Supreme Court has stayed the implementation of three farm laws and appointed a four-member committee to start a dialogue with the farmers and solve the problems. The controversy started when all the four nominated members of the committee were rejected by the farmer unions over their previous support to the farm laws passed by the government.

The Farmers Unions have declared that they will not appear before the committee appointed by the Supreme court. The farmer unions have very categorically rejected the committee and reiterated that they will not participate in any court-ordered committee process and they would not call off their protest until the newly enacted agriculture laws are repealed.

Bhupinder Singh Mann said in a statement "While I am thankful to the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India for nominating me in the 4 member committee to start a dialogue with Kisan Unions  on the three laws brought in by the Central Government."

“As a farmer myself and a Union leader, in view of the prevailing sentiments and apprehensions amongst the farm unions and the public in general, I am ready to sacrifice any position offered or given to me so as to not compromise the interests of Punjab and farmers of the country, I am recusing myself from the committee and I will always stand with my farmers and Punjab,” He said.
